M2KR Moses Taiwa Molelekwa 2024 Remixes Episode Three

Moses Taiwa Molelekwa Episode Three: Remixes 2024 is a compelling tribute curated by M2KR, celebrating the legacy of one of South Africa’s most visionary jazz pianists. Through reinterpretation and innovation, this project honours Molelekwa’s Afro-Jazz brilliance and his cultural imprint on 1990s South African music, particularly through seminal works like Finding One’s Self and Genes and Spirits.

The EP showcases a dynamic roster of remix artists. T-Drum’s “Down Rockey Street” channels the pulse of township jazz, while Deeper Kings’ “Sogra (Flora Purim Mix)” reignites Molelekwa’s early international dialogues. Sphecific’s “Itumeleng Remix” blends Dub Techno with Deep House, reflecting urban grit. SLASHISTICKS offers a subdued, vocal-free take on “Tsala,” while Shamrock Guitor’s “Spirit Of Tembisa” fuses live guitar with Afro-House elements.

The final track, “Rapela Revisited,” composed and performed by Jul Dillier, features Molelekwa’s son Zoe and stands as a deeply personal acoustic homage. It draws from Dillier’s 2016 Forest Jam collaboration with Southern African artists, where Molelekwa’s influence was a guiding force.

This EP is more than a remix compilation—it is a continuation of Molelekwa’s journey, bridging past and present, and amplifying his enduring impact on global jazz and African sonic storytelling.
